PIPE BURSTING
THE PIPE BURSTING METHOD
Pipe Bursting is NOT Pipe Rehabilitiation
but pipe replacement with new pipe that is replaced with a no-dig technology.
This is NOT slip-lining which actually makes the pipe smaller in diameter
but a complete replacement with upsizing the pipe.
Advantages of Pipe Bursting:
Follows the existing path
of the pipe
Reduces the potential for damage to adjacent utilities
Preferred technology for upsizing existing pipes
Causes less traffic disruption
Reduces excavation and restoration costs
Allows installation of a new pipe
Why use Trenchless Systems?
Less material (fill) and Energy (fuel) need
than other methods.
Minimizes Roadway re-construction.
Minimizes Excavations.
Less Material to haul away from jobsite.
Less Disruptions to:
Citizens and their homes, Businesses
& Traffic
Where can you use Pipe-Bursting?
In Urban congested areas
Under buildings, landscaping
and
roadways or streets.
To Replace:
Waterlines, Sewer lines, Gas lines & Storm Sewers
Pipe-bursting can be used to:
Increase the size and flow characteristics
Replace failing and damaged infrastructure.
Pipe Bursting involves expanding and breaking an existing utility and
simultaneously pulling in the
new carrier line which is usually
Polyethylene pipe (HDPE).
Pipe Bursting , historically, is done on pipes that can fracture such
as:
Cast Iron, Clay, PVC, Asbestos & Concrete,
Reinforced Concrete
Pipe bursting is the only trenchless method of pipe replacement that
allows for the upsize of the original line. An entry or launch pit is
dug at one end of the failed line. An exit pit is dug at the end of
the failed line. The pneumatic pipe bursting tool enters the failed
line at the launch pit.
A constant-tension winch is placed at the exit
pit and guides the pneumatic bursting tool through the run. As the pipe
bursting tool travels through the existing line (host pipe), it effectively
burst the old line, displacing the fragments into the surrounding soil
while simultaneously pulling in the new product pipe.
There are two types of pipe
bursting equipment: pneumatic hammer &
static pull. Pnuematic Hammer is a device
that uses percusssion action to crack and/or fracture the existing host
pipe in order to replace the existing pipe without digging up the existing
pipe. The exhisting pipe that is fractured remains around the new pipe,
but has no affect on the new pipe and hence there is no need to dig
up the old pipe or take any furhter action once the new pipe is in place
other than to tie in the service laterals. Static Pull uses a series
of Static Pull uses a series of steel rods that are linked together
one a time as you pull through the pipe and thus uses plain brute force
to crack and/or fracture the existing host pipe. Again, once a static
pull has been done, you need only to tie in the service laterals to
finish the job!
We offer planned design for all types of projects.
Plan design includes site surveys, feasibility recommendations,
budgeting, and finalizing all projects.
Experience for pre-qualification
We provide pre-qualification for projects which can be obtained for
any project by networking with current ITS certified contractors we
provide ANY pre-qualification requirements so only experienced companies
will bid on projects. Pre-qualification can be obtained by contacting
us to be part of our TRAINING and Certification programs.
Weld and Pull Crews for Production
We provide through our networks ITS certified crew who take our designs
and produce projects using the ITS equipment. This would include welding
the pipe that is purchased by prime contractor and PIPEBURSTING the
segments designed into the project.Training and/or
Certification for USE of ITS Equipment
Our training and certification programs are performed by an experienced
construction foreman with years of verifiable field experience in using
our trenchless methods.
These foremen will train your personnel in every facet of using ITS
equipment for maximum production and for a seamless construction project.
